Explore Agawam
An idyllic setting, an unforgettable summer
Camp Agawam’s 165-acre campus is located on a sunny hillside on the shore of Crescent Lake in Raymond, Maine. Activities, cabins and other buildings are nestled among stately white pines which surround a wide-open grassy field that invites constant activity in the middle of the campus. The Lakes Region of Southern Maine is one of the most attractive recreational areas in the Northeast, with beaches, mountains, rivers, and beautiful lakes nearby.
Ranger Trail
Agawam's outdoor living activities area—known as the “Ranger Trail”—is located in the woods along our lakefront and has its own nature hut and teaching area. A nature trail and outpost camping areas complete this activity area.
Indoor Space
Campers share meals at Mason Hall, which overlooks our beautiful campus. Below the dining room is an open recreation area for active rainy-day games.
Next door, Governor Hall is perfect for all-camp gatherings, featuring a large open space with ping-pong, foosball, bumper pool, and backgammon tables, as well as a fireplace and stage.
Living Quarters
Campers live in simple wooden cabins spread out across three campus clusters shaded by the woods. The boys are sorted by age and school grade, living in groups of 4 to 7 with one or two live-in counselors. Three platform tents are available for groups of 12- and 14-year olds.
Waterfront
Waterfront activities are the mainstay of our 1,800-foot lakefront, with separate docks for sailing, windsurfing, canoeing, kayaking, and fishing. A new H-Dock provides a shallow water teaching area, five 25-yard swimming lanes, and a deep water area with diving board and float.
Sports Facilities
Agawam’s active sports program is well supported by our facilities: three clay tennis courts, one all-weather tennis court, a basketball court, a baseball/softball field, three soccer/lacrosse fields, a lacrosse practice area, a volleyball court, badminton areas, a 70-meter archery range, and 50-foot rifle range.
Our Program
Agawam campers choose among a broad range of activities each day—whether it’s tennis, sailing, Ranger Trail (outdoor living skills), archery, or quiet reading, there is no shortage of things to do or new activities to try. Our program encourages campers to experience all activities while allowing ample time to pursue personal interests. Each camper is given guidance in selecting his program, and many activity curricula incorporate a multilevel award system to monitor progress and provide motivation. The blend of structure and choice is what makes Camp Agawam an experience that uniquely belongs to the camper.

Trip Program
Specialty Program
Agawam’s Specialty program enables campers to focus on one activity for 10 consecutive days, one hour and ten minutes per day. During the 7-week program, boys participate in four specialty sessions, selected in advance. A wide range of options will appeal to many interests and abilities including waterfront, land sports, creative arts, outdoor living skills, and overnight trips for all ages. All have structured as well as more informal program components, with some offering nationally recognized awards.
Intercamp Competition
Organized team sports are available for all age groups, with some offering competitions with nearby camps. Agawam competes against other camps in sailing, soccer, kickball, and tennis, and hosts a multi-camp six-a-side soccer tournament as well as the Annual Agawam Invitational Tennis Tournament. Our swim team is always competitive, as are our baseball, lacrosse, archery, and riflery teams, among others.
Trip Program
All campers participate in our well-organized trip program. Led by skilled and certified trip leaders, our campers venture far and wide. Younger campers participate in simple overnight canoe and hiking trips, while more experienced campers have the opportunity to challenge themselves on trips with a higher degree of difficulty. Our shortest trip is a quick overnight to the other side of our lake and the longest is a 6-day adventure in Maine’s Baxter State Park, culminating in a climb up Mt. Katahdin, Maine’s highest peak.
A Typical Day
From reveille to taps, each day at Agawam is filled with opportunity to enjoy all that camp has to offer. A typical day begins with the sound of the bugle and ends with the call of the loons on Crescent Lake. It includes three square meals, rest and relaxation, and—always—time for play. Agawam’s most cherished traditions emerge after dinner, under the glow of the Maine sunset and—on Saturday nights—the crackle of a campfire. Saturday Council Fires and Sunday Vespers and awards are the capstone of each week.
